Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS)
The Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) is an accredited award scheme for young people. It aims to support young people to extend their interests and abilities as well as helping their communities. The program is flexible and adaptable to ensure that it is achievable for all participants what their needs and abilities.
The program is split into 4 areas including;
- Adventure: outdoor activity and learning, including team work and problem solving
- Get Active, Stay Active: taking part in sport and physical activity
- My Interests: developing an interest or learning a new skill
- Me and My World: contributing to the local community
At Dee Banks we work on an area each term with different themes for the children to focus on and then complete the program with an adventurous camp out overnight on the school field and an expedition in a mountainous area or country park. We cook our dinner and breakfast over the campfire, build tents and enjoy an adventurous activity such as climbing or kayaking. We have had lots of success with the JASS program and it has been amazing to see our children try activities they have never tried before.
At the end of the year each child receives an award and certificate to celebrate their amazing acheivements.
