Oak class recently enjoyed a 2 night residential trip to CAFT (The children’s adventure play farm).
CAFT is a registered charity, which provides day trips, short breaks and respite activities for children from all over the North West who may have complex medical needs, special educational needs and disability or are socially disadvantaged.
At CAFT, we are committed to creating a joyful and inclusive environment where children of all abilities can come together to have fun and be themselves. Our team ensures that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, feels welcomed and valued.
All the children and staff had a busy two days, which was jam packed with activities.
Day one, started with arriving at school having a little stretch before we loaded up the bus and off we went. We arrived for lunch which as delicious. During the afternoon the weather was a little bit hit and miss with a couple of showers but we got wrapped up and went on a walk around the animals we went down a sensory path where we could smell lots of different plants including a curry plant! We got to see some ducks who came over to give us a little sniff before finding some shy alpacas and sheep who wanted to investigate. Our favourite was the miniature Donkeys who we gave a little snack to. We then seen a beautiful rainbow in the sky before heading inside to the sensory room where we could all have a stretch, there was singing and lots of laughing.
Day two, was a slower start to the day we all got up and dressed and headed for lunch about 9am. Today was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and no clouds. We headed to the forest school area first where we lit the fire listened to it crackle. We toasted marshmallows and had hot chocolate delicious! We then had a lovely walk around the forest school area before we headed for lunch.
During the afternoon we went back to find the Donkeys Pollyanna and Candy, we took them for a walk but they were very inquisitive of all our chairs and needed to stop for lots of snacks on the grass. To end our afternoon we went into the sports hall to play with the parachute there was some lovely acoustic in here so we were very noisy before relaxation in the sensory room.
That evening we had stretches, baths and films.
Day three, was a slow morning some lie ins and then up dressed breakfast pack the minibus up and head back to school for a relaxation session.
